In 1914 Friend Ernest Shackleton leads twenty-seven men on the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition. The expedition hopes to transverse the Antarctic continent by simply dog sledge. In 12 ,, 1914, the expedition, on the purpose-built polar exploration ship Strength, enters the rest ice from the Weddell Marine off the shoreline of Antarctica some one particular, 100 nm east with the Palmer Peninsula. By January, 1915, Strength is a scant 60 nm from its planned landfall--but additionally it is frozen immobile in load up ice that extends to every horizons. In late November, 1915, Stamina finally slips entirely beneath the sea; in the meantime the initial floe has crumbled under pressure and the crew has relocated into a larger, stronger floe and established...
